Tanjore Paintings of Lord Ganesha

In this magnificient Tanjore painting, Ganesha the famous elephant – headed hindu god of wisdom and prudence also known as the lord of obstacles is beautifully portrayed by the skilled artists. Lord Ganesha is shown showering blessings to his devotees.

Ganesha has four hands in which he holds pasha (rope), the other hand Lord Ganesha bestows boons which indicates that those who throw themselves on Ganesha’s mercy need not fear nothing. Similarly one left hand carries ankusha and other holds a bowl of modakas. The golden colour of the lord used in the painting enriches the deity which represents fulfillment. Real tanjore stones and 22ct gold leaves gives a sparkling effect to the painting. The grand prabhavalli against the black background highlights the beauty of the Painting. The arch enclosing the deity shows a beautiful arrangement and thus reflects the craftsman’s zest for excellance.
